In the early morning hours of May 11, 2026, a violent confrontation on the 200 block of Dawn Drive in a rural area of Columbia Falls, Montana, left one man dead and another wounded. Donald J. Schwindt, a 59-year-old resident of Columbia Falls, was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.
