In Catonsville, Maryland, on the afternoon of May 14, 2026, 21-year-old Kaylie Logston was found deceased inside a residence on Hillside Road. Responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 3 p.m., Baltimore County police discovered Ms. Logston with a fatal gunshot wound. The initial stages of the investigation quickly pointed to a person of interest.
As detectives were processing the scene at the Hillside Road home, they were notified that a man, who was in a relationship with
Logston, had been hospitalized with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This incident occurred separately in Columbia, in the 10000 block of Wincopin Circle. Howard County police reported that the man had fired several shots into the air before turning the gun on himself. The man, identified as 22-year-old Sean Vanlandingham, was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
The investigation into Kaylie Logston's death was soon classified as a murder and attempted suicide. With Vanlandingham identified as the suspect, police were not seeking any other individuals in connection with the shooting. Two days after being hospitalized, on May 16, Sean Vanlandingham died from his self-inflicted injuries. The case concluded as a murder-suicide, with no arrests to be made and no subsequent trial or conviction.
