In the late afternoon of Friday, March 27, 2026, the quiet streets of Huron, California, were disrupted by the sound of gunfire. Responding to calls of shots fired around 4:45 p.m., deputies from the Fresno County Sheriff's Office arrived at the intersection of Crocker Avenue and Los Angeles Street to a grim scene. There, they discovered 19-year-old Luis Leyva suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical aid was administered at the scene, but Leyva's injuries proved to be
fatal, and he died there in the intersection. The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner's Office later officially identified him as the victim of a homicide. Leyva was a resident of Huron.
