In the early morning hours of March 28, 2026, a vibrant life was tragically cut short in the bustling downtown area of Tempe, Arizona. Jacob Jaime, a 22-year-old White / Caucasian male, was fatally shot near 3rd Street and Mill Avenue, a popular nightlife district. The incident occurred around 2:19 a.m. as downtown establishments were closing for the night. First responders were on the scene in less than a minute and discovered Jacob with a gunshot wound.
He was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Another man was also injured in the shooting but did not require hospitalization.
Known affectionately as "Kuba" to his friends and family, Jacob was remembered for his infectious sense of humor and his ability to bring laughter to any situation. Born in Phoenix, he was a hardworking and driven individual who served as a voice of reason for his loved ones. The investigation into Jacob's death moved swiftly, leading to the arrest of 23-year-old Aidan Zepeda on March 29, the day after the shooting. Zepeda faces a host of serious charges, including first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. The search for others involved in the incident continued, and on April 9, a second suspect, 21-year-old Michael Bloodworth, was apprehended in Houston, Texas. Bloodworth is accused of second-degree murder and aggravated assault for his alleged role in the fatal shooting.
