Sally Vasquez, a 40-year-old woman, was killed in the early morning hours of April 3, 2026, on San Antonio’s South Side. The shooting happened at a home in the 900 block of Burton Avenue, near Aaron Place, where she was inside when gunfire suddenly tore into the residence from outside. Police described it as a drive-by shooting, with a white vehicle, possibly a Toyota Prius, passing the corner house before someone inside opened fire.

Investigators said multiple rounds were fired into the home, and one of the bullets went through the walls and struck Vasquez in the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The attack appeared to be sudden and violent, leaving behind several shell casings outside the home and numerous bullet holes in the room where Vasquez had been staying. A male witness told police he lived in the room with her. According to the police report, he also said that two other residents of the house had argued with an unknown person outside before the shooting happened. Five other people were reportedly inside the home at the time, but none of them were injured; police took them in for questioning as witnesses.
Investigators had not publicly identified a suspect or announced any arrests in the case in the available reports.
