In the late afternoon of Monday, April 6, 2026, a tragic and senseless act of violence cut short the life of 22-year-old Ava Woodcock, a White female from Glasgow, Kentucky. Woodcock, who was pregnant and already a mother to a one-year-old daughter, was in her vehicle in the parking lot of Annie's Restaurant on Cleveland Avenue. Following what law enforcement has termed a "domestic incident," Woodcock sounded her car's horn.
Moments later, a man identified as 24-year-old Brandon Lee Bond allegedly crossed the street and opened fire on her car while she was still inside. The vehicle continued to move after the shooting before crashing.
Critically injured, Ava Woodcock was rushed to a hospital in Louisville, but tragically succumbed to her injuries the following day, April 7, 2026. Her unborn daughter, who was to be named Neveah Marie Woodcock, also did not survive. Bond fled the scene after the shooting but was later found by police in a wooded area behind a nearby recycling company and taken into custody. Authorities reported that he had been drinking throughout the day and was initially uncooperative with law enforcement.
Brandon Lee Bond has been charged with multiple offenses, including murder first-degree fetal homicide, and first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot. The charges against him were upgraded after the deaths of Woodcock and her unborn child. The investigation into the full circumstances that led to the fatal shooting is ongoing. An arraignment was expected to be held in Barren District Court.
Ava Woodcock was a 2022 graduate of Hart County High School and was an employee at the Walmart Super Center in Glasgow. She was remembered by loved ones for her contagious laughter that could fill a room and was described as a thoughtful, caring, and kind individual. She had aspirations of becoming a veterinarian, a testament to her love for animals. Above all, she cherished being a mother to her young daughter, Chloe.
