In the quiet morning of a Chicago Tuesday, the life of 16-year-old Kanyae KJ Franklin was brought to a violent and sudden end. On April 7, 2026, the Black / African American male was walking in the South Shore neighborhood, on the 7800 block of South Coles Avenue, when a white vehicle carrying three or four males drew near. A barrage of bullets was fired from the car, striking Kanyae multiple times.
