On the morning of April 13, 2026, Victoria Alexander, a 38-year-old licensed practical nurse, arrived for her shift at the ExcelCare Rehabilitation Facility in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, unaware of the tragedy that was about to unfold. Her estranged husband, 35-year-old Brandon Alexander, lay in wait for her in the parking lot. Before 6 a.m., he used his vehicle to block hers, preventing her from leaving. He then entered her car and placed two suicide notes on the dashboard.
A brief opportunity for escape arose when a food delivery driver asked Brandon Alexander to move his car. Victoria seized this moment and fled from her vehicle, running towards the entrance of her workplace in a desperate attempt to find safety. However, her husband pursued her into the building, where he shot her multiple times near the entrance before turning the gun on himself.
Emergency responders pronounced Victoria Alexander dead at the scene.
Brandon Alexander was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in critical condition from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and died the following day. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office later described the murder-suicide as a "tragic and deliberate act of domestic violence." The investigation revealed that prior to the shooting, Brandon Alexander had posted a series of troubling videos on TikTok with captions such as "Broken beyond repair," "It's over," and "My last ride." The incident was the first homicide in Atlantic County in 2026. Victoria Alexander was remembered by her colleagues as an "excellent nurse" who was "very comforting and kindhearted."
