On the evening of April 13, 2026, a physical altercation on Thelma Street in Raleigh, North Carolina, escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 27-year-old Terrance Quarles. Raleigh police officers responded to a call at approximately 5:39 p.m. and discovered Quarles with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the death of the male victim led to the swift arrest of three individuals. Angie Giselle Bonilla Bravo, 21, was taken into custody shortly after the shooting on Trimblestone Way and has been charged with his murder. Authorities have indicated that Bonilla Bravo and Quarles knew each other through a "non-dating relationship". The events leading up to the shooting reportedly involved a physical altercation between Quarles, Bonilla Bravo, and others.
Two other individuals were also arrested in connection with the incident. Lamargaret Hockaday, 26, faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury. Jermaine Lee Johnson, 22, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury and accessory after the fact to murder. According to his arrest warrant, Johnson was allegedly with Bonilla Bravo when they arrived at the scene, and he is also accused of returning to the location to retrieve a shell casing before driving Bonilla Bravo away.
All three suspects were being held in the Wake County jail without bail and were scheduled for their initial court appearances. The community has mourned the loss of Quarles, who was remembered for his kindness. Family members have set up a GoFundMe to assist with funeral expenses.
