In the Woodlawn neighborhood of Chicago, a quiet Wednesday afternoon on April 15, 2026, was shattered by gunfire that ended the life of 16-year-old Eric Billups. A sophomore at Hyde Park Academy, he was standing at a bus stop near the Southside YMCA on 63rd Street and Stony Island Avenue, just steps from his school, when an unknown individual opened fire.
