On April 18, 2026, 32-year-old Liberty A. Moore of Maryville, Missouri, was found deceased in a residence just north of Skidmore, Missouri. Another woman, 58-year-old Karen M. Babcock of Skidmore, was also discovered deceased at the scene. The Nodaway County Sheriff's Office requested the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control to investigate what was reported as a double homicide.
