Christian B. Tyler, 21, of Fairmont, North Carolina, was killed late Wednesday night, April 22, 2026, in a shooting in the Fairmont area of Robeson County. Deputies with the Robeson County Sheriff's Office were called at approximately 11:10 p.m. to the 1600 block of J.W. Road, southwest of Fairmont, after receiving a report that someone had been shot.
When deputies arrived, they found Christian at the scene, and he was pronounced dead there.
The case quickly moved from a death investigation into a homicide investigation. Authorities identified the person accused in the shooting as Dmichael J. Tyler, 22, also of Fairmont. He was taken into custody the following day, Thursday, April 23, 2026, and charged with second-degree murder in connection with Christian's death.
Investigators released that Dmichael Tyler was Christian Tyler's uncle, adding a family connection to the fatal shooting. Public reports did not describe what led up to the gunfire, whether there had been an argument beforehand, or what motive investigators believe may have been involved. After his arrest, Dmichael Tyler was booked into the Robeson County Detention Center and held without bond.
