On a Tuesday in Dawsonville, Georgia, the life of 38-year-old Justin Thompson was cut short. On March 24, 2026, deputies from the Dawson County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting incident in the vicinity of Highway 136, just west of Keith Evans Road. Upon their arrival, they discovered Thompson had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The investigation into the death of the Dawsonville man quickly pointed to a suspect, 52-year-old Roy "JoJo" Holloway.
Authorities determined that Holloway and Thompson were acquainted, though the nature and extent of their relationship were not immediately made public. Following the shooting, Holloway fled the scene, prompting a multi-day manhunt that spanned across state lines. He was considered armed and dangerous by law enforcement. A "Be On the Lookout" notice was also issued for a woman named Ariel Decarli, who was believed to be with Holloway.
After an extensive search involving multiple law enforcement agencies, Holloway was apprehended in Davidson County, North Carolina. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Georgia to face charges in connection with Thompson's death.
