In the quiet community of Northwood, Ohio, the life of 28-year-old Antoine Kennedy was abruptly cut short on the evening of Sunday, March 29, 2026. A Black man known to his loved ones as a "Gentle Giant," Kennedy was a father, son, and brother. His life, however, came to a violent end in what investigators believe was a drive-by shooting.
Reports of multiple gunshots fired in the 1900 block of Ware Street, near Andrus Road, drew Northwood police officers to the scene.
Upon their arrival, they discovered that Kennedy had been shot at a residence in the area. He had already been transported by a private individual to a local hospital for the injuries he sustained. Despite the efforts to save him, Antoine Kennedy succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Lucas County Coroner's Office later confirmed that the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was officially ruled a homicide. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, law enforcement officials indicated that they were actively investigating the incident and searching for a suspect. At the time, no arrests had been made, and police had not publicly identified any individuals of interest. The Northwood Police Department urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and contact detectives. No other homes in the vicinity were reported to have been struck by gunfire.
Born on February 2, 1998, in Toledo, Ohio, Antoine was described by his family as a loyal, ambitious, and outgoing person who was deeply devoted to his family. He leaves behind his parents, a daughter, several brothers and sisters, and a host of other relatives and friends who are left to mourn his sudden and tragic passing.
