In the early hours of a Saturday in Vallejo, California, the life of 21-year-old Damonie Whitehead, a Black woman, was cut short. On April 4, 2026, just after 1:30 a.m., police received a call about a disturbance at an apartment complex on Porter Street. While the call was in progress, the sound of gunshots echoed through the line.
