A large fight in Irondequoit on a Thursday night culminated in the shooting death of 50-year-old William Lundy of Rochester. The altercation, which involved approximately a dozen people, took place at the intersection of Saint Paul Boulevard and 2nd Street. During the course of the brawl, Lundy was shot in the upper arm.
Emergency services responded to the scene, and Lundy was transported to Strong Hospital for treatment.
Despite the medical intervention, his condition was life-threatening, and he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
In connection with the shooting, authorities arrested 26-year-old Armon Benefield. He was initially charged with first-degree assault. Following Lundy's death, the case is being investigated as a homicide, and it was anticipated that the charges against Benefield would be upgraded.
