A quiet street in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, became the scene of a tragedy on April 9, 2026, when 26-year-old Hannah Jackson was found deceased in her Tinnell Court home. The investigation into her death began after a man, later identified as 27-year-old David Ivy, contacted his family members, claiming to have been involved in a domestic incident. This prompted a response from the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, who located Ivy at a different residence on Steelson Court.
During their interaction with Ivy, who was reportedly threatening self-harm, deputies learned of his connection to Jackson, who was described as his girlfriend. This information led Murfreesboro Police to conduct a welfare check at Jackson's home, where they made the grim discovery of her body. The investigation suggests that the death was a result of domestic violence. Family members stated that Jackson, a mother of four, had recently moved to escape an abusive relationship and that two of her young children, a 20-month-old and a 4-year-old, were present in the house during the incident.
Following the discovery, David Ivy was taken into custody and subsequently charged in connection with Hannah Jackson's death. The charges against him include first-degree homicide, unlawful possession of a weapon while committing a dangerous felony, and especially aggravated burglary. He is being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a $700,000 bond, with a court hearing scheduled for June 22 in General Sessions Court. Investigators allege that Ivy used a door code he was not authorized to have to gain entry to the home and shot Jackson multiple times. The Murfreesboro Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit is leading the ongoing investigation with assistance from the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office.
