In the quiet community of Mead Valley, a domestic tragedy unfolded on the evening of March 14, 2026, ending the life of 56-year-old Guadalupe Laborin. That Saturday night, at approximately 9:52 p.m., deputies from the Perris Sheriff's Station were dispatched to a residence on Verta Street following a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement officers discovered a grim scene.
Guadalupe Laborin was found inside the home, having sustained apparent gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response, she was pronounced deceased at the scene. Further investigation inside the residence led to the discovery of a second individual, who was identified as Laborin's 26-year-old son, Julio Garcia. He was also found deceased, having suffered what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Office Central Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation into the two deaths. According to their preliminary findings, the incident is being treated as a murder-suicide, with Julio Garcia identified as the suspect in the shooting of his mother, Guadalupe Laborin.
