In a tragic turn of events stemming from a domestic dispute, 35-year-old Shuntrail King lost her life on February 28, 2026, in Marion, Arkansas. The incident unfolded at a residence located at Harvard Yard, 28 Grange Road, where authorities would later make a grim discovery.
Responding to the scene, deputies from the Crittenden County Sheriff's Office encountered a Chevrolet Tahoe attempting to leave the property.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 41-year-old Demetric Nering, the boyfriend of Shuntrail King. Inside the home, law enforcement found King suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. Despite the immediate life-saving efforts of first responders, she was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Crittenden, where she was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting revealed a heartbreaking detail: three children were present within the home at the time of the fatal dispute. Fortunately, the children were evaluated by medical personnel at the scene and were found to be physically unharmed.
Following the on-scene investigation, Demetric Nering was taken into custody. He has since been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Shuntrail King. In addition to the murder charge, Nering also faces charges for possession of drugs and firearms. A judge has set his bond at $1,000,000 as he awaits further legal proceedings.
