In the winter of 2011, the life of Andre James Jr., a young man from Buffalo, New York, was cut short in a sudden and violent manner. On January 29th, he was fatally shot multiple times. The incident also left another individual wounded, having been shot in the face, arm, and hip. The Buffalo Police Department's homicide detectives promptly began an investigation into the brutal slaying.
The investigation into Andre James's death would eventually lead authorities to a man named Tyshawn
Bradley. Evidence gathered by detectives, including shell casings from the scene, connected Bradley to the murder. This key finding also prompted the involvement of the FBI, who began looking into Bradley's broader criminal activities. Their investigation uncovered that Bradley was the leader of a significant narcotics trafficking ring that primarily operated out of the Perry Housing Projects in Buffalo.
As the investigation deepened, it became clear that Bradley's criminal enterprise was extensive. He maintained several apartments within the housing project which were used for the daily sale of crack cocaine. In April 2013, a series of raids were executed at various locations in Buffalo and Cheektowaga, leading to the arrest of Bradley and nine other individuals. During these searches, law enforcement seized substantial quantities of crack cocaine and powdered cocaine, along with an unregistered, sawed-off 9mm semiautomatic rifle belonging to Bradley. The investigation also revealed a money-laundering conspiracy, where proceeds from the drug operation were used to purchase multiple houses in the city, with a co-defendant, Nannette Brown, listed as the owner to conceal Bradley's ownership.
In court, Tyshawn Bradley was held accountable for his numerous crimes. In addition to being identified as the leader of the drug trafficking organization, the court found that he had used a minor in his drug operations, possessed an arsenal of firearms and ammunition, and had obstructed justice by threatening multiple witnesses. Most significantly, the court determined that Tyshawn Bradley was responsible for the murder of Andre James on that fateful day in January 2011. Bradley was subsequently sentenced to 30 years in prison for his roles in the drug conspiracy, money laundering, firearms charges, and the murder of Andre James. With Bradley's sentencing, all ten defendants in the case were convicted and sentenced for their involvement in the criminal enterprise.
