In the early evening of February 8, 2026, a dispute over the sale of vapes in West Point, Mississippi, escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 15-year-old Jordan Logan. The Black / African American male was found by West Point police officers in a grassy area of the Ridgewood Apartment Complex around 5:30 p.m., having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
The incident, which authorities have described as a "transaction that went bad," also resulted in injuries to two other
individuals, a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male. Both were transported to local hospitals and were reported to be in stable condition. Investigators believe that the plan was for one party to sell vapes to the other, but the exchange ended in a shootout. The specific contents of the vapes were sent for testing to determine if they contained nicotine or other substances.
According to the West Point Police Chief, it is believed that the deceased and the two injured teenagers were the primary individuals involved in the altercation. Law enforcement officials have stated that they believe all the shooters are accounted for between the deceased and the two injured suspects. Officers were stationed at the hospitals where the two surviving teenagers were being treated for their injuries, with the intention of taking them into custody upon their recovery. The case remains under investigation with the cooperation of the Sheriff's office and the District Attorney's office.
