On the afternoon of February 11, 2026, a domestic dispute in the Glover Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C. ended in tragedy, claiming the life of 34-year-old Rayven Amuan Edwards. The incident unfolded in front of an apartment complex in the 4100 block of W Street, Northwest, where Edwards was fatally shot. Her 10-year-old daughter was also wounded in the attack but survived her injuries.
The suspect was quickly identified by authorities as 35-year-old Stephon Marquis Jeter, Edwards'
ex-boyfriend and the father of her youngest child. Following the shooting, Jeter fled the scene in a black pickup truck with their 3-year-old son, which triggered an AMBER Alert.
A police pursuit ensued, crossing from Maryland back into the District of Columbia. The chase ended when Jeter's vehicle crashed at 30th Street and Nash Place, Southeast. When officers approached the truck, they found Jeter inside, dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The 3-year-old child was later found unharmed at a family member's home in Prince George's County.
Family members revealed that Edwards had been dealing with ongoing threats and violence from Jeter. They described a history of domestic abuse, and court records indicated that both Edwards and Jeter had sought protective orders against each other in the years leading up to the fatal incident. Edwards' mother stated that her daughter was often too ill with lupus and kidney failure to attend court dates. She also mentioned that Jeter had recently taken Edwards' apartment keys and thrown her clothes out of the residence because she did not want him living with her.
