Known affectionately as "Paquita," she was the American-born daughter of migrants from Loma Bonita, Oaxaca.
The investigation into her death quickly pointed to her ex-partner as the primary suspect. Authorities identified Ricardo González Maldonado, 28, as the alleged perpetrator. Friends and family indicated that the couple had ended their relationship several months prior to the fatal shooting. It is believed that González's violent reaction was spurred by learning of Jennifer's recent marriage to another man.
