A festive Saturday night trail ride and block party in Northeast Houston turned into a scene of chaos and tragedy on January 31, 2026, when gunfire erupted, claiming the life of 24-year-old Cory Young Jr. and injuring at least five other people. The young man was attending the large gathering, which had spilled into the parking lot of a grocery store on Homestead Road near Little York, when an altercation broke out, leading to multiple people opening fire.
