In the early morning hours of Sunday, December 28, 2025, an altercation outside the Cosmos Taverna on Mariposa Road ended in gunfire. Responding to multiple 9-1-1 calls just before 1:40 a.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies arrived to a chaotic scene with a large crowd of 50 to 100 people gathered in the parking lot.
Amid the confusion, deputies discovered two men with gunshot
wounds. One of them was Dshaun Holden, a resident of the nearby city of Adelanto, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies began life-saving measures until paramedics arrived and transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced deceased. The second victim, a 35-year-old man from Victorville, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to a nearby hospital.
The suspect, or suspects, fled the scene before law enforcement arrived and have not yet been identified. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Detail has taken over the investigation and has not released a motive for the shooting.
