On the first day of 2026, a burst of violence in downtown Chico brought a tragic end to the life of Sean Allen, a 30-year-old man from the nearby community of Oroville. The early morning hours of New Year's Day were shattered by the sound of gunfire, leaving Allen with fatal injuries. He was a father to three children.
The incident unfolded in the 300 block of Broadway, a central area of the city. Shortly before 2 a.m., multiple calls reported the shooting to the Chico Police Department.
