In the late evening hours of a Friday in Houston, the life of 21-year-old Keshawn Humphrey was tragically cut short by gun violence. On January 9, 2026, at approximately 9:05 p.m., an altercation occurred at 6400 Main Street that would end in Humphrey's death. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered him lying on the sidewalk, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Paramedics with the Houston Fire Department were called to the location, but it was too late; Keshawn Humphrey was pronounced deceased right where he was found.
As the investigation into the shooting began, another piece of the puzzle emerged just a short distance away. Around the same time Humphrey was discovered, a second man was found on a Houston Metro Rail platform about two blocks south of the initial scene. This individual, identified as 32-year-old Jordan Lee Williams, was also suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The connection between the two men and the two scenes quickly became the focus of the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division. Investigators determined that Williams was involved in the altercation that led to Humphrey's death. Initially, Williams was charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon. However, as detectives gathered more evidence and spoke with witnesses, the case against him solidified. On the following Wednesday, January 14, the charges against Jordan Lee Williams were upgraded to murder for his role in the fatal shooting of Keshawn Humphrey. He remained hospitalized while facing the new, more serious charge.
