Rikko Armando Valencia, a 19-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically lost his life on November 16, 2014, in Houston, Texas. Valencia was walking home from his job at a Whataburger restaurant when he was shot in the face at point-blank range in the parking lot of Spring Woods Baptist Church. He was found deceased by a groundskeeper who arrived at the scene around 7 a.m.
Following an investigation, three suspects were identified and arrested: 19-year-old Andres Rojo, 19-year-old
Edgardo Ligas, and 17-year-old Jorge Castro. All three admitted to their involvement in the crime, stating that the motive was robbery. They were charged with capital murder and faced legal proceedings in the 337th State District Court.
The case drew significant attention due to the young age of both the victim and the perpetrators, as well as the tragic circumstances of the crime. The Houston Police Department worked diligently to bring the suspects to justice, and the community mourned the loss of a young life cut short by such a senseless act of violence.
