In Orangeburg, South Carolina, on the evening of Tuesday, January 13, 2026, a dispute inside a residence on Gibson Street escalated into a tragedy that claimed two lives. Da’Mon Deondra Karlos Rice, a 25-year-old man, was fatally shot during an altercation. The exchange of gunfire also resulted in the death of a six-month-old infant, Marco Frazier Jr., and left the baby's mother, Malyasha Zeigler, with a graze wound.
Authorities report that an argument between two men turned violent,
leading to the shooting. Following the incident, Rice left the scene in a gray Honda and was later found deceased inside the vehicle at the intersection of Summer and Amelia streets. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The infant was transported to a medical center where he succumbed to his injuries.
In connection with the double homicide, 30-year-old Marco Daveree Frazier turned himself in to the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety late Tuesday night. He has since been booked into the Orangeburg County Detention Center. Arrest warrants indicate that Frazier faces a series of charges, including two counts of murder, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a pistol by a convicted felon. The investigation into the deadly shooting continues.
