In the early hours of Thursday, January 15, 2026, the quiet of a Jackson, Michigan neighborhood was shattered by a fatal shooting. Inside a home in the 500 block of Harris Street, 16-year-old Isaiah Ramos-Bostwick was found with a gunshot wound to his face. First responders rushed the young man to Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
Isaiah was an 11th-grade student at Jackson Public High School who loved sports, especially football and wrestling, and dreamed of becoming a rapper.
The investigation into the shooting led Jackson Police to two juvenile suspects who had fled the scene on foot. A K9 unit from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office successfully tracked the individuals to a residence in the 1300 block of Leroy Street. A perimeter was established, and the two suspects, a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old, were arrested without incident.
Following the arrests, the 13-year-old suspect was taken to the Jackson County Youth Center. The Jackson County Prosecutor's Office announced that the 13-year-old is being held on allegations of First-Degree Premeditated Murder, Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Larceny of a Firearm, and Felony Firearm. Due to his age, he cannot be charged as an adult in Michigan and the case will be handled by the Family Court. The 15-year-old suspect was released into the custody of a parent. The investigation into the circumstances that led to the tragic death of Isaiah Ramos-Bostwick is ongoing.
