On the evening of Saturday, November 29, 2025, Oakland County Sheriff's deputies made a grim discovery while on patrol in Pontiac, Michigan. Around 7:30 p.m., officers spotted a pickup truck equipped with a salt spreader stopped in the middle of Karen Court, just south of Hopkins Avenue. Inside the vehicle, they found the driver, 52-year-old male Antonio Jason Craig, unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities attempted life-saving measures at the scene, but Craig, a resident of Pontiac, had already succumbed to his injuries. The truck was idle in the roadway where Craig had been salting private businesses as part of his work as a supervisor for a landscape company.
Detectives quickly launched an investigation, utilizing assets such as K9 units and drones to gather evidence. Witness information and surveillance technology, including FLOCK shot spotter data and doorbell camera footage, allowed investigators to identify a suspect shortly after the incident. The investigation pointed to a relative of the victim, later identified as his stepson. Law enforcement tracked the suspect’s movements to a nearby area, coordinating a response to apprehend him before he could flee further.
Approximately two hours after the discovery of the body, around 9:40 p.m., deputies located the suspect in Waterford Township. Terrell Quayshawn Edwards, age 26, was taken into custody without incident in the parking lot of a restaurant near the intersection of Dixie Highway and Scott Lake Road. He was found riding as a passenger in a vehicle stopped by the Directed Patrol Unit. Following his arrest, Edwards was held at the Oakland County Jail.
Prosecutors subsequently charged Edwards with first-degree murder, two counts of felony firearm, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Authorities alleged that Edwards fired five shots at Craig, striking him four times while he sat in his truck. While the exact motive was not immediately released, family members expressed shock, describing Craig as a beloved family man and mentioning that Edwards had a history of mental health struggles. Antonio Craig was survived by his wife, Kimberly, and several children and grandchildren.
