The death of Leon Ward occurred on December 6, 2025, in the Seventh Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. Ward, who was 42 years old, was discovered by New Orleans Police Department officers responding to a report of a shooting near the intersection of Old Roman and Aubry Streets. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officials found him inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services transported Ward to a local hospital for treatment, but he ultimately
succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office later identified him as one of two individuals killed in separate shooting incidents across the city that weekend, the other being 43-year-old Herman A. Jacques.
At the time of the initial investigation, authorities had not released information regarding a motive for the shooting or descriptions of any potential suspects. Police urged anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Homicide Section or provide anonymous tips through Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans as detectives worked to gather evidence and identify those responsible.
