On the morning of Monday, December 8, 2025, authorities in Culver City, California, were alerted to a violent incident near the border of the Palms neighborhood. Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a call regarding a shooting at approximately 8:05 a.m. in the 10200 block of Washington Boulevard, a busy thoroughfare situated just steps away from the Sony Pictures Studios lot. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders discovered a dark-colored SUV parked along the street with a male victim unresponsive inside the vehicle.
The individual was identified as Fidel Muñoz Jr., a 51-year-old Latino male. Officers found him seated in the driver's seat, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite the immediate efforts of emergency personnel to preserve his life, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. The sudden nature of the crime led law enforcement to cordon off the area for several hours, disrupting traffic as detectives scoured the vicinity for evidence and potential witnesses to the daylight shooting.
