On the night of Wednesday, December 10, 2025, law enforcement officers in Greensboro, North Carolina, were dispatched to a reported shooting in the 2400 block of South Holden Road. Upon arriving at the scene around 11:10 p.m., police discovered a 31-year-old male named Travis Thompson suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts attempted by officers and Guilford County EMS personnel, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the location.
During the investigation at the property, police detained a suspect identified as 26-year-old Corey Thomas Powell. Authorities subsequently arrested Powell and charged him with first-degree murder in connection with Thompson's death. Following his arrest, he was processed and held in the Guilford County Jail without bond. Detectives indicated that they were not searching for any additional suspects related to the incident.
