On December 11, 2025, police in Corcoran, Minnesota, discovered the body of 52-year-old male Chad Tech Huntington inside a mobile home on the 7800 block of Maple Hill Road following a requested welfare check. Officers had initially attempted to contact the residents on the previous day but received no response. Returning the following morning, they observed that the vehicles in the driveway remained covered in snow, indicating no movement.
Upon forcing entry through a door that had been screwed shut from the inside with a piece of wood, authorities found Huntington deceased on a bedroom floor. An autopsy later confirmed that he had sustained three gunshot wounds to the back of the head, two of which were inflicted at close range.
Inside the residence, law enforcement officers encountered 54-year-old Steven Fredrick Endsley, who was identified as Huntington’s roommate. Endsley was discovered in the bathroom of the trailer, dressed only in his underwear and holding a loaded rifle. He was taken into custody at the scene without further incident. The bullets recovered from the victim's body were subsequently matched to the rifle found in Endsley's possession. During questioning, Endsley reportedly told detectives that he had not left the trailer for several days and, while claiming he did not remember the shooting, admitted that "it couldn't have been anyone else." When pressed for a motive, he refused to provide an explanation.
Prosecutors charged Endsley with second-degree murder in Hennepin County District Court. He was held on $1 million bail pending his court appearances. The criminal complaint noted that Endsley had allegedly wrapped the victim's head in plastic and moved the body after the shooting. Friends and family of Huntington later organized a memorial fund and scheduled a celebration of his life for January 2026, remembering him for his love of music, the outdoors, and his willingness to help others.
