On the night of December 23, 2025, a violent incident unfolded in Mesa, Arizona, claiming the life of 19-year-old Skylar Vance. The male teenager was involved in a triple shooting that occurred just before 10 p.m. near the intersection of East Brown Road and North 40th Street, in the vicinity of Greenfield Road. Emergency responders arriving at the scene discovered three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.
While two of the victims survived the encounter, Vance sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Mesa Police Department launched an immediate homicide investigation following the shooting. Officers determined that in addition to Vance, a man and a woman had been struck by gunfire. Both surviving victims were treated for their injuries and were expected to recover. Detectives worked through the night and into the following days to identify those responsible for the attack. The investigation quickly led authorities to identify two suspects believed to be connected to the fatal event.
By December 26, police announced that they had developed probable cause to arrest two juvenile suspects in connection with the shooting. Due to their status as minors, the names of the accused were withheld from public release. Law enforcement officials stated that they were not looking for any additional suspects, indicating that the primary individuals responsible for the death of Skylar Vance and the injury of the two others were in custody.
