In the heart of New Orleans, a life filled with both struggle and hope was cut short on November 16, 2025. Nicholas Fayard, a 42-year-old man, was killed in a shooting in the Tulane-Gravier neighborhood. His death, which occurred on a Sunday, left his family grappling with a sudden and devastating loss.
Fayard, a certified plumber by trade, was remembered by loved ones as someone who took great pride in his work and in helping others.
At the time of his death, he was actively rebuilding his life with a sense of determination and optimism, preparing to move into a new home and embrace a brighter future. Despite facing hardships, he was known for his courage and the strength he showed in the face of adversity.
The circumstances of his death unfolded in the 100 block of North Johnson Street, near Canal Street, where police responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Fayard and another man, 36-year-old Xavimen Decquir, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene, where illegal drugs were also found.
