He was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead. The shooting appeared to be a drive-by, and it was unclear if Franco was the intended target. Neighbors and family described him as a quiet and kind young man who was not involved in gangs.
In the wake of the shooting, the community was left in shock and mourning. Franco's family remembered him as a gentle and smart individual who enjoyed playing video games and watching soccer. His brother, Anthony Franco, described him as someone who "never did any wrong to anyone or ever wanted to harm anyone."
