In a tragic case of mistaken identity, Tammy Chambers, a 57-year-old mental health professional, was shot and killed in Panama City, Florida, on the evening of November 11, 2025. Chambers was reportedly leaving work and was on the phone with her husband, discussing what to bring home for dinner, when the fatal shooting occurred. Her husband tragically heard her last moments over the phone.
The investigation into her death quickly led to the arrest of three individuals.
Eighteen-year-old DaVon Sutton and 16-year-old Uriah Armstead have been charged with murder. Authorities have stated that the two became friends while in prison. Sutton had been released just over a week prior to the shooting after serving time for first-degree attempted murder. The third person arrested is Uriah Armstead's 33-year-old mother, Camila Armstead, who is facing a charge of accessory after the fact to murder for allegedly assisting in the destruction of evidence and helping to conceal the crime.
According to police, the motive for the shooting appears to be a case of mistaken identity. Sutton and Armstead had allegedly gone to the location of the shooting to confront another individual. Investigators believe Sutton, armed with a gun, approached a vehicle he mistakenly thought belonged to the person they were targeting and fired multiple rounds, tragically killing Chambers, who was the driver. The intended target of the confrontation reportedly confirmed this information to the police. Both Sutton and the younger Armstead are said to have extensive criminal records.
