In the quiet community of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, a promising young life was tragically cut short on the evening of October 26, 2025. Brodie Slonski, a 17-year-old White male and a student in the metal fabrication program at Taconic High School, was found fatally shot. The incident unfolded around 6:14 p.m. when police responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision at the intersection of Franco Terrace and Parker Street.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a white Honda HR-V
that had apparently crashed into a tree. Inside the vehicle, Slonski was found unresponsive in the driver's seat with visible blood on and around him. The car's airbags had deployed, and debris was scattered around the scene. Initially appearing as a car accident, the situation took a grim turn when first responders, while removing him from the vehicle, discovered a gunshot wound to his chest. Slonski was rushed to Berkshire Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the death of the teenager quickly launched into a homicide case that deeply affected the local community. For ten days, the Pittsfield Police worked tirelessly to uncover the events that led to the fatal shooting. Their efforts culminated on the evening of November 6, 2025, with the arrest of 18-year-old Jaequan Spratling of Pittsfield.
Spratling has been charged with murder and attempted armed robbery in connection with Slonski's death. He was scheduled for arraignment in Central Berkshire District Court on November 7, 2025.
