In the early morning hours of October 27, 2025, a birthday celebration in the Newburg neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky, turned into a scene of tragedy. Tiffany Reiner, a 45-year-old White female and mother of three, was shot during a party for one of her adult children. The gathering was taking place on Ridgecrest Road when the violence erupted.
Reiner was critically injured and rushed to UofL Health Hospital, where she later succumbed to her wounds.
Responding to the initial shooting report, Louisville Metro Police officers arrived to find a chaotic scene. Before they could render aid to Reiner, they were confronted by 20-year-old Frank Mejia Aguilar, who was armed with a gun. According to police, Aguilar approached the officers and, despite commands to stop and drop his weapon, he continued to advance and pointed the firearm at them. In response, LMPD Officer Hunter Weaver fired his weapon, striking Aguilar. Aguilar was also transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Family members at the scene identified Aguilar as the individual who had shot Reiner moments before the police arrived. The motive for the initial shooting has not been publicly detailed by investigators. The Louisville Metro Police Department's Public Integrity Unit has taken charge of the investigation into both Reiner's death and the officer-involved shooting of Aguilar. As part of their protocol, the department released body camera footage of the incident within ten business days. With the sole suspect in Tiffany Reiner's death also deceased, there have been no arrests in connection with her murder.
