In the early morning hours of October 28, 2025, a residence on Grammont Street in Monroe, Louisiana, became the scene of a heart-wrenching tragedy. Inside, authorities would discover the bodies of 25-year-old Jaborris Simpson, his 2-year-old daughter, Jhersi Simpson, and his 27-year-old friend, Jamal Bosley. The young female toddler and the two men had been fatally shot in what police would describe as a violent home invasion.
The investigation into the triple homicide moved swiftly.
Within hours, Monroe Police identified a prime suspect, 24-year-old Travis Tyrone Payton. He was apprehended and booked into the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center on three counts of first-degree murder, home invasion, and criminal conspiracy. Authorities revealed that Payton had a significant criminal history, with 11 prior arrests and three convictions, and was on probation at the time of the killings.
