Cash Russell, a 9-year-old Black male, was killed on October 9, 2025, in a triple homicide at a home in the Springfield area of Sangamon County. Deputies responded to reports of gunfire that afternoon in the 3000 block of Hoover, where they found three victims: Cash, 22-year-old Mhynesha Day, and 21-year-old Devione Brady.
