Joelle J’Sean “JoJo” Clesca, 19, was shot and killed on the evening of October 12, 2025, inside a Wingstop on Beatties Ford Road in northwest Charlotte. Police were called just after 7 p.m. and arrived to find a male victim dead from gunshot wounds; he was soon identified as Joelle Clesca of Charlotte.
In the days that followed, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department made a series of arrests.
On October 14, officers arrested 20-year-old Santario Lavarius Turner and charged him with first-degree murder and felony conspiracy; he was held without bond after a first appearance, with a court date noted for early November. Mugshot and jail records list his booking on October 14 in Mecklenburg County on those charges.
Detectives then arrested a second suspect, 20-year-old Dandre Chisholm, likewise charged with murder and felony conspiracy, with county records reflecting his October 15 booking on first-degree murder. Local outlets subsequently reported that a third suspect, 20-year-old Justin Jones, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder as well.
Community grief rose quickly around the loss. Within days, friends, family, and neighbors gathered for a vigil near the restaurant to honor Joelle’s memory, sharing stories about his life and the shock of his sudden death. Coverage of the vigil underscored how the killing reverberated beyond the store’s walls into the surrounding neighborhood.
An obituary published by a Charlotte funeral home remembered Joelle as “JoJo,” confirmed his full name as Joelle J’Sean Clesca, and recorded his date of death as Sunday, October 12, 2025. Independent violence-tracking sites likewise listed him as “lost to gun violence” in Charlotte on that date.
