On October 11, 2003, Yvonne Martinez, a 37-year-old woman, was found murdered near Espanola, New Mexico. She was last seen alive around 1:50 a.m. leaving the Okay Casino. Her partially unclothed body was discovered later that day by a passerby on County Road 136B, about 10 miles north of Espanola. Martinez had been shot twice in the chest, and evidence at the scene indicated a violent struggle occurred before her death.
