In the cool autumn air of a late Monday morning in Lexington, Kentucky, a dispute escalated into deadly violence, leaving two men dead. On October 20, 2025, Roderick Lee Clay, a 54-year-old Black male, was fatally wounded by gunfire. The incident, which unfolded in the vicinity of Village Drive and Cambridge Drive, also resulted in the death of 50-year-old Antwone Miguel Sanders.
Lexington Police were dispatched to the scene around 10:50 a.m.
Upon their arrival, they discovered both Clay and Sanders suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite any attempts to render aid, both men were pronounced dead at the scene. The Fayette County Coroner's Office later confirmed the identities of the two men.
Investigators quickly determined that the two men were involved in an argument that tragically escalated to an exchange of gunfire. According to police, evidence indicated that Clay and Sanders shot each other during the altercation. Authorities stated that they did not believe any other individuals were involved in the shooting.
As a result of their findings, the Lexington Police Department began the process of closing the investigation into the double homicide. No arrests were made, and authorities were not seeking any suspects in connection with the deaths of Roderick Lee Clay and Antwone Miguel Sanders. The case was considered cleared, with the conclusion that the two men were responsible for each other's deaths.
