Jahiem Everson, a 22-year-old man, was found fatally shot on the night of October 20, 2025, in an alleyway between two houses in the 3000 block of East Second Street in Dayton. Officers already patrolling nearby heard a burst of gunfire around 8:40–8:45 p.m. and converged on the area; as they searched, they discovered Everson unresponsive and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 911 caller reported what sounded like roughly 20 shots tearing through the night, underscoring the suddenness and severity of the attack. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as Jahiem Everson, age 22.
Detectives from the Dayton Police Department’s Homicide Unit processed the alley and surrounding homes for evidence under floodlights, working through the evening after multiple residents reported hearing the volley of shots. The location—an interior alley off East Second Street—complicated the search, but investigators canvassed for witnesses and surveillance footage while the coroner’s identification confirmed the name and age released publicly. Listings maintained by regional and national gun-violence trackers subsequently recorded Everson’s death in Dayton on October 20.
As of October 25, 2025, investigators have not announced any arrests, nor have they publicly identified a suspect or suspects. Police have said only that the case remains an active homicide investigation.
