Noah Angelo Talbott, a 26-year-old White male, was shot just after midnight on May 29, 2025, inside an apartment at the Westdale Point complex on Wood Hollow Drive in northwest Austin. Responding to a Shoot/Stab Hotshot call at 12:08 a.m., officers found him with a gunshot wound to the head and rushed him to a local hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead the following afternoon, at approximately 2:22 p.m. on May 30, 2025.
Investigators determined that the shooting followed an argument over money between Talbott and a man who had been at the apartment. As Talbott escorted the visitor toward the front door, the assailant reportedly produced a handgun from a bag and fired, striking Talbott in the head before fleeing. Witness interviews and scene processing supported this sequence of events.
Police soon identified the suspect as 27-year-old Waleed Beriji and located him later that day in the 3000 block of South Congress Avenue, where he was taken into custody. He was initially booked on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. After Talbott’s death on May 30, authorities upgraded the case and Beriji was subsequently charged with first-degree murder.
The case was recorded as Austin’s 27th homicide of 2025. Officials continue to ask anyone with additional information to contact the Austin Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through Capital Area Crime Stoppers.
