On the evening of June 7, 2025, a summer gathering on Melba Street in Longview was pierced by gunfire. Officers arrived around 9:18 p.m. to find Isaiah Ross, a 31-year-old male from Longview, gravely wounded. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
According to an arrest affidavit described in local reporting, the shooting unfolded at what witnesses called a block party in the 200 block of Melba Street.
A witness told investigators they saw a man walk up behind Isaiah Ross and fire multiple times, then continue shooting after Ross fell to the ground. Medical personnel were described as performing life-saving measures, and records noted Ross had been shot multiple times, including once in the head.
In the days that followed, detectives named Dominique Devine Johnson as the suspect. Working with Kilgore police, they located and arrested him in Kilgore without incident after obtaining a murder warrant. Jail and court records reported that Johnson was booked into the Gregg County Jail on a charge of murder with bond set at $1,000,000.
Police said the investigation remains active and asked anyone with information to come forward. As of the latest official updates, no additional suspects had been publicly identified and no other arrests announced in connection with the killing of Isaiah Ross, 31.
