Just after sunrise on June 14, 2025, Fnu Bahishta, 37, a woman, was inside an apartment on San Antonio's Northwest Side when a single gunshot pierced the quiet. Police and medics rushed to the complex off Huebner Road near USAA Boulevard and found Fnu Bahishta, a woman, gravely wounded; she was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The Bexar County Medical Examiner identified her that weekend and ruled the death a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the torso.
In the first hours after the shooting, detectives learned there were other people inside the neighboring unit, and several were detained for questioning. Even so, early accounts described a wall of silence—people inside the apartment were refusing to cooperate, leaving investigators to piece together a motive and sequence from fragments. The scene, near the corner of Huebner and USAA Boulevard, yielded few immediate answers.
Six weeks later, the case took shape in an arrest affidavit. According to investigators, a “heated argument” inside the adjacent unit escalated into a fight between two brothers. During the struggle, 19-year-old Jason Timothy Gonzales allegedly drew a handgun and fired. The round missed its intended target, passed through the apartment door and across an open breezeway, and struck Fnu Bahishta in the abdomen inside her home. Witnesses later identified the shooter in photo lineups, and the affidavit recounts a threat shouted amid the chaos moments before the gunfire.
On July 26, 2025, police arrested and booked Jason Timothy Gonzales into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the killing of Fnu Bahishta, 37, a woman; records noted additional, unrelated charges including multiple counts of aggravated robbery, failure to identify, evading arrest, resisting, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Separate reporting the following week echoed the account that the fatal shot was fired during a fight and killed an innocent bystander in the neighboring apartment. As of those reports, the investigation was active and the case pending in court.
